How big is Enoc as an aviation fuel supplier?

We supply two million gallons of aviation fuel through our joint ventures across 97 airports globally every day.

What is Dubai’s share in this?

We cover 300-360 aircraft in Dubai International Airports per day.

How much fuel does a plane consume?

Around 500 times what a car does - an average car tank has the capacity of around 20 gallons whereas a plane needs anywhere between 10,000 to 100,000 gallons of fuel.

How long does it take to fuel a plane and when is it done?

Between 20 minutes to an hour. It is usually done along side the boarding process.

But isn’t that dangerous?

The biggest challenge for us is to deliver the fuel within short periods of time without endangering passengers on board. There is very little time that is available between flights.

We also need to keep in mind the safety of people working on the ground with so many vehicles moving around.

Have there been any refuelling mishaps in Dubai?

No, the situation is well-managed here. Minor cases of spillage occur sometimes, maybe once or twice a year. But they are addressed immediately.

What about such mishaps elsewhere?

There are some instances reported and they serve as chilling reminders for us to remain alert.
