Dubai: Nokia has launched the world's thinnest full QWERTY keyboard device, the E71, as well as the slide-open E66, company officials said.
The E66, a business smart phone, will retail at Dh2,100 to Dh2,300 and the E71, a messaging device, at Dh2,150 to Dh2,300. The products are expected to hit the local market next month and the UAE will be among the first countries worldwide to receive the shipment.
Both phones, available in grey steel or white steel, include Microsoft Exchange.
"The Nokia E71 and Nokia E66 were designed for people who lead a mobile lifestyle and want quick and easy access to their personal and work email," said Trude Gajland, head of E-series, Nokia Middle East and Africa.
People who use Micro-soft Exchange at work can access their email using the Mail for Exchange mobile email client, which comes pre-loaded with both models. With these devices, users can get real-time access to their email, as well as download attachments like Word.
Both models support email accounts from more than 1,000 internet service providers around the world, as well as Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail. Both devices come with the new switch mode that allows people to switch easily between two customised home screens, a user can set one for business and personal usage.
The E66 2.4-inch display will switch to landscape or portrait view as the device is turned.
The models come with 110 MB of internal memory with up to 8GB support for microSD memory card, and have a data connection of up to 3.6 Mbps for web browsing and downloading.
Security
The devices also include integrated mobile VPN support that gives mobile professionals access to their company intranet, and device lock and wipe to protect corporate information.
"The Middle East and North Africa represent 14 per cent of total net sales as of end of 2007," Yolande Pineda, director of communications, Mena told Gulf News.
The company's worldwide net revenues was more than 50 billion euros (Dh286 billion) in 2007.
