Dubai: The Els Club Men’s Open will be played over 36 holes at the The Els Club, Dubai course this weekend, with 18 holes being played on each day. Altogether 119 players have entered this flagship event on our annual calendar.

Tee times in the first round today (Saturday) are from 6.40 am in three-balls until the final tee time at 12.24 pm with just eight minute intervals all from the first tee.

Notables in the field include: Arjun Gupta (+7.1, Trump International Golf Club, Dubai), Yas Majmudar (+6.1, Jumeirah Golf Estates) and Jonathan Selvaraj (+6.1, Yas Links, Abu Dhabi) and Toby Bishop (+5.8, Trump International Golf Club).

33 players in the field have a plus handicap and overseas entries have been received from Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Austria and Canada.

Local clubs represented include players from the following golf clubs: Arabian Ranches Golf Club, Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, Dubai Hills Golf Club, Emirates Golf Club, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, Trump International Golf Club, Dubai, Yas Links, Abu Dhabi as well as the home club and the Emirates Golf Federation.

This 2022 event is a qualifier for the 2021-2022 Emirates Golf Federation Men’s Order of Merit.

Tom Nicholson, Operations Manager at The Els Club, said about the draw: ‘‘We are excited to be hosting our Men’s Open this weekend. The golf course is in excellent shape and the greens are set to be rolling at around 12 feet on the stimpmeter. We have also just received our brand new golf cart fleet and we hope all the players enjoy their time at The Els Club.’

‘‘On Sunday, we are also hosting our 18-hole Ladies’ Open, with the draw to be published tomorrow (Saturday) morning,’’ concluded Nicholson. The second round for the Men’s Open will be played also on Sunday with the leaders out last in reverse gross score order.
