Dubai:

Over 138 units of blood (approximately 62 litres) was collected at the 10th annual blood donation drive organised by the Dubai Health Care City (DHCC). The drive that attracted more than 180 donors this year is organised annually in order to meet the seasonal shortfall of blood during summers due to a large section of donors proceeding on annual vacation,

The drive, organised in collaboration with the Dubai Blood Donation Centre (DBDC), took place at the Mohammad Bin Rashid Academic Medical Centre at DHCC.

Every year, DHCC’s annual blood donation drive registers a year-on-year increase in participation from members of the public, its employees, and the wider DHCC clinical and non-clinical community. In last year’s drive about 115 units of blood (roughly about 52 litres) was collected.

DHCC continues to demonstrate its commitment to public health, organising regular public health screenings and health awareness initiatives throughout the year. Since January this year, it has organised activities and screenings for global health observances such as World Autism Awareness Day, World Health Day and World No Tobacco Day.
