Abu Dhabi: Outpatient clinics for the most in-demand specialities at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi will now be open longer in order to allow patients greater access, the hospital announced in a statement sent on Saturday.

From July 1, patients will be able to schedule appointments between 8am and 8pm for specialities like cardiology, internal medicine, gastroenterology and neurology.

According to the statement, the extended hours are designed to better serve the needs of the full range of patients who use the hospital’s services. They will especially address the significant volume of requests for late afternoon and evening appointments, particularly from professionals who want to see doctors after work.

“Since opening the hospital in 2015, we’ve treated hundreds of thousands of patients, and we now have the capacity and experience to treat many more over the years to come. We’re here to serve the community and we are taking steps to ensure they can access our services where they need us and when they need us,” said Dr Rakesh Suri, chief executive officer at the hospital.

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, part of the network of health facilities by Abu Dhabi Government-owned holding company, Mubadala, served more than 400,000 outpatient visits in 2017 alone, according to hospital records.

Patients in Al Ain and the eastern region of the emirate can also access the hospital’s high level of care by visiting its newly opened branch in Al Ain. The facility is located within the Tawam Hospital campus, and offers daily clinical services. Patients who need surgery or a longer-term care programme, as well as those who require highly specialised procedures and multidisciplinary care, can be referred to the hospital’s main facility in the capital after initial consultations in Al Ain.

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi has also started work on rolling out a new mobile health care app which will enable patients to correspond directly with their physicians, schedule appointments and review test results using their personal device or mobile phone. The app is expected to launch later this year.
