Dubai: As part of the UAE’s 50th National Day Celebrations, motorists have been offered relief on some traffic fines they may have accrued, with 50 per cent discounts announced by police authorities in various emirates.

Here is all you need to know about how you can take advantage of the announcement.

Sharjah

On which fines will a discount be offered?

In Sharjah, motorists can avail of the discount from November 21, 2021, to January 31, 2022.

Sharjah Police also issued a decision to cancel the impoundment of vehicles and traffic points for the specified period. The reduction applies to all traffic violations committed in the emirate of Sharjah, except for serious violations.

How can I make the payment?

• Through the Ministry of Interior app, available for Apple and Android devices.

• Through the ‘Sahl’ payment kiosks located in shopping malls and public places.

Ajman

On which fines will a discount be offered?

The reduction wll be offered from November 21 and the window for payment is open until December 31, 2021.

How can I make the payment?

Motorists can pay through the following platforms:

• Ministry of Interior’s smartphone application – MOI UAE – available for Apple and Android phones.

• ‘Ajman Police’ smartphone application, available for Apple and Android phones.

• ‘Sahl’ electronic devices, that are located in most public places like shopping malls and hypermarkets.

• By visiting an Ajman Police service centre.

Umm Al Quwain

On November 23, Umm Al Quwain Police also announced a 50 per cent discount on traffic fines to mark the 50th National Day. In a post shared on their social media channels on November 23, the authority announced the discount on violations from December 1, 2021 to January 6, 2022, with the exception of these violations:

1) driving a vehicle in a manner that endangers the motorist's life and the life, safety or security of others.

2) making changes to the vehicle's engine or the chassis without a licence.

3) violation of instructions and precautionary measures issued in accordance with the decision of  the Attorney General No. (38) of 2020 and amended by Resolution No. (54) with regard to the regulation for controlling violations and precautionary measures, and the instructions and duties imposed to limit the spread of the virus (Covid 19).f

Fujairah

On November 25, Fujairah Police also announced a 50 per cent discount on traffic fines, following the directives of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.

Major General Mohammad Ahmad Bin Ganem Al Kaabi, the Chief of Fujairah Police, said that the discount will apply to all kinds of fines issued by the police before November 25. Motorists can avail the discount for 50 days, starting from November 28.

Ras Al Khaimah

On December 2, Ras Al Khaimah Police also announced a 50 per cent discount on radar fines with the cancellation of vehicle impoundment and traffic points, starting from December 5, 2021 to January 3, 2022.

How to pay fines

You can pay the reduced traffic fines from December 5 by using the MOI UAE app by the Ministry of Interior.
