DUBAI: If you were to sign up for a new workout at Core Club Pro, you would find yourself carrying a pair of high heels instead of running shoes in your gym bag.

‘Heels workout’, launched by Indian expats Janvi Bhatia and Arpan Kriplani at their fitness studio in Business Bay, is Meghan Markle’s favourite workout too.

In an interview to Business Insider last month, the 36-year-old was quoted saying, “(the workout is) hands down the best thing you could do for your body.”

French connection

Arpan Kriplani, CEO and master trainer at Core Club Pro said, “We’ve been in business for over five years now and we are always experimenting to bring the best for our clients. Janvi and I were inspired by French dancer Yanis Marshall, who introduced the regime a few years ago. As many as 12 women attended our launch session on May 9,” adding that classes are open to men as well.

Bhatia, who leads the weekly class, claims the sessions are more than just a workout. “The class instils a sense of confidence among our participants. The rigorous hour-long workout not only tones and shapes their lower body and core, it also make them more confident when they step out in their high heels,” said the 20-year-old self-taught trainer. “I recently graduated from SAE University and I’m looking to pursue a career in dancing,” she added.

According to Bhatia, participants can wear anything from stilettos, wedges, platforms, kitten heels or even court shoes. “It’s all about your comfort,” she added.

The classes cost Dh90 per session and are held every Wednesday from 7.30 to 8.30pm.
