When Gulf News reader Mary Jean Geraga visited Deira Creek on a Thursday night, she said she was shocked to see the amount of rubbish lining the boardwalk. The community reporter said: “I was very disappointed. The scenery at the Creek is so beautiful, with the lights from the nearby bridge. But when we approach the water, there is a strong stink of garbage. Dead fish were floating on the water, too.” The reader urged people to be careful when disposing items. She said: “After picnics, they should throw their rubbish in designated areas, not wherever they like. The authorities should fine those who don’t do so.”
