At Sharjah's Caterpillar junction, extensive tailbacks and dangerous manoeuvres cause frustration.

When heading to work in Dubai, I often have to pass through the Caterpillar junction in Sharjah's Industrial Area. No matter at what time one goes through - be it 9am or 8.30pm - the area is always packed with vehicles.

However, I believe at least 60 per cent of the traffic congestion at this junction could be reduced if access from Kalba was closed. Large trucks and heavy vehicles enter the two-lane road from the extreme right with the intention of turning left at the traffic signal.

This means they would have to cut right across the main rows of cars and this creates extensive tailbacks. It is also extremely dangerous, as we have to manoeuvre around the huge vehicles and it can become very frustrating for people who have to travel on the road every day.

I urge the authorities to close the access road as it seems to be the main reason for the traffic congestion.

All the Sharjah border roads need a rethink. If you observe all the focus has been on building roads North to South and no emphasis on East to West - (east to west would be Dubai feeder roads) So people can move across Sharjah at the boder, but cant get in or out smoothly. An example is the slip road to the Emirates road into Dubai.

I will simply say I banned my self to go Sharjah because of worst traffic situation there. I think my last visit to Sharjah was October 2008 and after various calls from my relatives we agreed to meet in Ajman or Dubai but Sharjah " NO WAY" Concerned Authorities should take action to provide peace of mind to innocent people

In front of Al-Mulla plaza (from sharjah - Dubai, Ittihad Road), all vehicles going the free right line which enters towards Mamzar park (Infront of Al-Mulla Plaza Signal. I request the authorities, If it will modified as double line or the entrance to the free right should replaced, then 40-50% of traffic problem in that area will be solved.

I work in DAFZA. Behind the outer buildings in the East Wing, there is a parking lot with a two way road to access it. However, that road is always blocked with cars parked on both sides. This causes delays every single day and no one seems to be bothered.

Its good and selfish suggestion from Mr Nair. If all the junctions are closed then from where the vehicles shall enter Industrial Area. There are only 2 entrances for Industrial area which is west of Emirates Road. I suggest Mr Nair should change his route instead of suggesting for closure for his benefits.

I agree with the reader. The authorities need to help the drivers by cutting off heavy vehicles to this roundabout

What about the roundabout in the Sharjah industrial area? There is a traffic jam every morning. It takes me about 15 minutes to reach this signal but to clear this signal

I too agree with the above issue and request the concerned authorities to implement an alternative solution. Regards Shiva Prasad
