Not many will remember her from her first Malayalam film, ‘Oru Second Class Yatra.’

But with her second film, ‘Maheshinte Prathikaaram’, Aparna Balamurali has clearly found her way in people’s hearts.

Her Jimcy, the outspoken young student with a twinkle in her eyes and a wide grin, brings love back into Mahesh’s life.

A trained classical singer, who is also well-versed in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniattam and Kuchipudi dance styles, Balamurali got the role through auditions. Just two days before shooting, she learnt, to her surprise, that her co-star was none other than Fahad Faasil.

“I was excited and nervous too,” said the actress, who is in her third year styling architecture at Palakkad Global Institute. (Balamurali says she is taking things slow acting-wise, as she is keen on completing her degree.)

On her first meeting with Faasil, the fan in her preferred to remain withdrawn. “But he put me at ease and that helped a beginner like me.”

“Director Dileesh believed that the best in an actor is yet to come and often encouraged me to go for re-takes.”

The result is there for all to see and it has turned her from just another college-goer into a celebrity. Balamurali has also sung the film’s song ‘Mounangal’, with Vijay Yesudas.
