Dubai: Author urges UAE youth to feel a sense of belonging and contribute to their society and not to be brainwashed by those with agendas.
Dr Ebrahim Al Dabal, Director of the International Training Programme and United Nations International Expert Consultant Trainer, launched his second book titled ‘The Social Leader’ after being inspired by the youth in his country.
The book was launched yesterday at Mirdif City Centre.
The Emirati author highlighted the need for youth in the UAE to feel a sense of belonging to their country and culture. “The youth should be aware about the society surrounding them, and should learn how to have a positive impact on their community.”
While targeting youth in particular, ‘The Social Leader’ is a thought-provoking read for anyone over the age of 15, said Al Dabal. The book focuses on the social aspect of the Emirati community and presents examples of youth in countries around the world. The book also acts as a guide to youth on ways to best understand and excel in areas of their work and education.
“The book tackles the issue of the younger generation not having enough passion to do something for their society or community,” explained Al Dabal. He pointed out that many youngsters are being misled by people in the society who hold underlying agendas and achieve their purpose by brainwashing the youth. “Through this book the youth will have a guideline to steer their lives in the right direction. It will provide them with a basic path for them to walk on and be able to shape themselves and positively impact their society,” said Al Dabal.
The author aims to encourage and motivate young Emirati men and women to be self confident and ambitious about their futures. “They should have their goals and objectives ready in advance so they can have a brighter future,” he said.
Dr Al Dabal is an internationally recognised expert in the field of drugs and narcotics, and is an accredited consultant to the United Nations. He is also a member of the International Narcotics Control Board and is on the World Assembly of toxins experts.
Since 2006, he has been working as the Director of International Training with Dubai Police on drug awareness, human development and community service, and has headed the Centre for Drug Rehabilitation in Dubai.
While his first book tackled drug issues, Al Dabal shifted his focus to other issues affecting youth in the UAE.
‘The Social Leader’ is now available at all Borders book stores.
