Dubai: The Sharjah Entrepreneurship Centre (Sheraa) and Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP) will jointly launch initiatives aimed at attracting entrepreneurial talent to the emirate. As part of this, they will hold joint entrepreneurial competitions and programmes to assist startups by providing mentorship and referrals.
The agreement will also improve Sharjah’s pool of venture capital that entrepreneurs will have access to. “By promoting research and development, SRTIP plays a crucial role in the development of a knowledge-based economy in the emirate," said Najla Al-Midfa, CEO of Sheraa, in a statement. "Our partnership will serve to strengthen our shared efforts to cultivate Sharjah’s entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem.”
SRTIP will provide a subsidized licensing and co-working space package to Sheraa startups with access to facilities such as maker spaces and labs. Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of SRTIP, said all aspects of support will be provided to implement plans that support emerging companies.
