Oman: Over 21,000 students accepted to higher education institutes for new academic year
Muscat: The Unified Admission Center at the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation announced yesterday the results of the first screening for the academic year 2020/2021.
Dr. Hamad bin Khalfan Al-Nu’mani, Director General of the Unified Admission Center, indicated that the total number of seats and scholarships offered in higher education institutions were 22,817, out of which 53.5 per cent is offered in government higher education institutions, 43 per cent in private higher education institutions, and 3.5 per cent to external education institutions.
A total of 21,408 students have been accepted to higher education institutes that comprise of 44.3 per cent male students and 55.7 per cent female students. The admissions are offered on the basis of merit and income parameters.
Al-Nu’mani indicated that the approval of admission and the completion of registration procedures for accepted students is available until Tuesday, August 25, 2020. All accepted students are advised to ensure that this step is completed within the given time frame, to ensure the availability of seats in the chosen university or college.
