Bollywood star Ali Fazal makes a splash in trailer for 'Death on the Nile'

Actor Ali Fazal on Wednesday dedicated the recently released trailer of his upcoming Hollywood movie ‘Death on the Nile’ to his mother, who died in June. Sharing the trailer on social media, the ‘Fukrey’ actor wrote: “This ones for Mom. She might’ve liked it”.

Ali’s girlfriend, actress Richa Chadha, retweeted post and wrote: “She’s gonna be watching! You better have done well to earn her praise. The OG Uzma auntie has blessed you with her aesthetic... And you don’t disappoint, holding your own among this galaxy of stars! She’s proud and so am I.”

On June 17, Fazal shared the news of his mother’s demise on social media and wrote an emotional note paying his respects to her.

The trailer brought Ali lots of love from all quarters of the Indian film industry. Filmmaker and actor Farhan Akhtar tweeted saying: “Nice one Ali.. can’t wait to watch and discover if you did it or not... keep shining (sic.)”

Dia Mirza tweeted: “Ali! Feeling so much pride and joy. This trailer is amazing and seeing you in the midst if this incredible cast makes me want to dance with joy Keeping shining! Mom would have LOVED this @alifazal9 [sic].”

Actor Manoj Bajpayee passed on well wishes and tweeted the trailer.

While actor Swara Bhasker wrote: “Go Aliiiiiiiiiiii! We love uuuuuu.”

Actress Nimrat Kaur wrote: “My goodness @alifazal9!!!!! What a bomb trailer, cast and YOU in it!!!! Absolutely blown away!!! Making your mama and pretty much the rest of the country look so damn fine...also special love for that moustache!! LOVE LOVE LOVE it all!!!”

Actress Kangana Ranaut tweeted saying, ”In Hollywood Asian people get break only and only based on their auditions, what @alifazal9 has got is indeed a big break,we may have different ideologies but art will always bind us together, I have huge admiration for your breakthrough.”

Directed by the five-time Academy Award nominee Kenneth Branagh (pictured), the upcoming American film is based on the 1937 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie. The flick boasts an ensemble cast including Hollywood stars Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Tom Bateman, Rose Leslie, Annette Bening, Letitia Wright, Sophie Okonedo, Emma Mackey, Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders and Russell Brand.

The movie is a follow-up to 2017’s ‘Murder on the Orient Express’, an adaptation of Christie’s tale that was also directed by Branagh.

The ‘Death on the Nile’ trailer features Hammer and Gadot playing a glamorous duo. The plot follows Hercule Poirot, the renowned detective, who is on board to solve the mystery of a death on the cruise. The movie is set to hit theatres in the UAE on October 22.
