Bangladesh to restart flights to Kuwait on Tuesday
Kuwait airport set to begin operations on August 1 at 30 per cent capacity
Kuwait City: Tahira Khander, Deputy Director General of Bangladesh Airlines, has announced that flights between Kuwait and Dhaka will resume on Tuesday August 4.
“We have decided to run one weekly commercial flight between Kuwait and Dhaka every Tuesday,” Khander told the Dhaka Tribune.
Kuwait is the fourth international country that Bangladesh Airlines is flying to, including London, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, nearly 3 months after the airlines halted commercial flights.
The Kuwait International Airport is set to begin operations on August 1 at a 30 per cent capacity. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced that flights will be departing from Kuwait to the following countries: United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, Lebanon, Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Ethiopia, United Kingdom, Turkey, Iran, Nepal, Switzerland, Germany, Azerbaijan, Philippines and India.
In addition, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation issued health restrictions for passengers travelling to and from Kuwait. For those departing, they must register their names on the ‘Musafer’ application, obtain health certificate approved by the Ministry of Health proving they tested negative for COVID-19, obtain health insurance, abide by social distancing guidelines and wear makes and gloves.
As for those returning to Kuwait, they need to register their information on the ‘Shlonik’ application, obtain an approved health certificate (PCR), within the last 96 hours, that proves they are negative for COVID-19 and quarantine for 14 days. A random PCR test will be conducted, upon arrival, on 10 per cent of the aircrafts’ passengers.
Kuwait Airways also set to resume commercial flights on August 1, to multiple destinations including Beirut, Dubai, London, Geneva, Cairo and many others.
The airport has been closed since March 13 and has prohibited the entry of commercial flights. As for departures, the government has allowed for expats to leave the country. Since March 16, over 158,000 expats have left Kuwait on a total of 993 flights.
