Pending refund

Reader has been waiting for refund for two months

I have been following up with flydubai for a refund for nearly two months, and it’s been one month since their approval came through. Initially, they said it would take four to five weeks from the date of approval, and now they have sent me an email saying it will take a few more weeks.

The management of flydubai responds:

Thank you for contacting us and for giving us the opportunity to comment following an enquiry received from Mr Baig relating to his refund request. We have also received the same enquiry from the passenger through our customer service team. Please note that as per our terms and conditions, Mr Baig has received his refund in the form of a pre-paid card. We apologise for the delay in processing this refund and we look forward to welcoming Mr Baig on one of our flights in the future.

Mr Baig responds:

Yes, my issue has been resolved, but partially, as I did get my refund back in form of a pre-paid card and the card is working, but my refund was supposed to be Dh390 and the card delivered to me has only Dh370 in it. Please try to get me my remaining Dh20 back. I know it’s a small amount but the fact is that I paid an additional Dh390 and I should get back the same amount.

The management of flydubai responds:

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to Mr Baig’s subsequent correspondence. Our customer service team has been in touch with Mr Baig and we have explained that the outstanding amount of Dh20 is related to bank charges made during his payment. As a gesture of goodwill, we have offered Mr Baig a Dh50 refund, in the form of a pre-paid card, which he has accepted.

Mr Baig responds:

I have received my pre-paid card from flydubai worth Dh50. I would like to thank them and the whole Gulf News team for the support. Simply amazing!
