Ramallah: A Palestinian hanged himself in the local mosque in Aqraba, south of Nablus, after he performed his noon prayers on Sunday. Raed Nabhan Qassem Bani Fadl is survived by his wife and five daughters.

Residents say the apparent suicide was strange since the man chose to do it in the mosque and after performing prayers. It is considered a sin in Islam to take your own life. Fadl, according to residents who spoke to Gulf News, was involved in a quarrel over money with a company he previously worked for. Since the quarrel a few months back, Fadl had not returned to the job. Sources close to Fadl said that he may have been disgraced over the incident leaving his job in a money exchange and taking up an agricultural job instead. He was said to have suffered both pyschologically and economically after his salary dropped to 50 shekels (Dh51.77) a day and was not enough to support his large family.
