London: Former Syrian vice president Abdul Halim Khaddam has accused President Bashar Al Assad of ordering the killing of former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri.
Speaking to the United Kingdom's Sky television, Khaddam was asked if he thought Assad was directly responsible for Hariri's murder.
He said: "In my belief, yes, my personal belief is that he ordered it.
"But at the end of the day there is an investigation. They must give the final decision," he added.
His remarks are the latest in a recent tirade of media outbursts against the embattled Syrian leader.
Khaddam, who lives in Paris, had previously said that Assad had threatened Hariri before he was killed in a massive car bomb in Beruit on February 14, 2005.
