Ramallah: The Israeli regime is threatening to cut off electricity in the cities of Nablus and Jenin for one hour to ‘punish’ the Palestinians for failing to pay large sums of money owed to Israel Electric Corporation.

The debt owed according to the Israeli electric company is over two billion Shekels and the company is threatening to cut off power permanently in the northern areas of the West Bank.

The Israeli regime has been withholding Palestinian tax revenues for the past three months and the Israeli electric company has its eye on those frozen funds and is urging the government to deduct some of that money to settle parts of the debts.

The company wants the government to transfer part of the tax revenue to it monthly so that the Palestinian National Authority will be able to settle the debts to the Israeli company.
