Sana’a: The Yemen Ministry of Defence said on Wednesday that security forces dismantled an Iranian spy network, secretly working in the country for the last seven years.

According to the ministry’s news website, the network was administered by a former commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, carrying out espionage activities in Yemen and the Horn of Africa.

The website didn’t elaborate on the members of the spy network.

Yemen has repeatedly accused Iran of fomenting violence in the troubled country by financially supporting Al Houthi rebels in the north. In the past, many Yemenis were brought to trial over charges of spying for Iran.
