Dubai: Saudi security authorities have arrested a man who appeared in a viral video shooting at workers in a maintenance centre in Asir region, the Al Watan Arabic daily reported on Sunday.

The 26-year-old Saudi man was arrested after appearing in footage shooting an automatic rifle in the southwestern Saudi Arabia region.

The video shows the suspect getting out of his vehicle holding the automatic rifle before shooting randomly at the workers. The suspect shot and injured two workers and then fled the scene.

The suspect was filmed by passers-by who posted the video on social media, enabling police to arrest him.

He was referred to the Public Prosecution pending further investigation and trial.
