The Iran-backed militants have launched over a hundred missiles into Saudi Arabia since the Yemen war erupted two years ago.

In December,  Nikki R. Haley, the American ambassador to the United Nations, accused Iran of providing weapons to Al Houthis who toppled the government in Sana’a,  throwing the country into chaos.

In November, Saudi Arabia intercepted a missile fired by Al Houthis towards Riyadh.

Saudi foreign minister Adel Al Jubeir called the attempted attack “an act of war”.
