Cairo: A total of 2,240 women and 42 men were diagnosed with breast cancer in Saudi Arabia last year, a senior expert has disclosed.

“Breast cancer is the most common type of cancers among women in the kingdom, a matter that requires major efforts from individuals and agencies to spread awareness about this disease and the importance of early detection,” head of the Saudi Oncology Association Dr Meteb Al Foheidi added, according to new portal Sabq.

The association started Tuesday a virtual campaign to raise public awareness about breast cancer. Running until October 31, the campaign, titled “You Are Stronger”, draws participation of a select of medical experts from inside and outside the kingdom.

“The campaign features several events including lectures and webinars aimed at spreading health awareness about breast cancer,” Dr Al Foheidi said.
