Abu Dhabi: Ten young Saudis have been arrested for skidding in Al Qassim, in northcentral Saudi Arabia, police said.

“The suspects, in their 20s and 30s, were caught after publishing video clips on social media as they were skidding and promoting the offence,” Lieutenant Colonel Badr Al Suhaibani, spokesperson of the Al Qassim Police, said.

Al Suhaibani added the men, who were also found in possession of drugs, were remanded in custody pending moving to the Public Prosecution for further questioning and trial, police said.

Saudi Arabia imposes extreme penalties for the import, manufacture, possession, and use of both alcohol and illegal drugs. Those found guilty can expect lengthy prison sentences, heavy fines, and possibly deportation. Anyone found dealing in drugs in Saudi Arabia is liable for the death penalty.
