Muscat: Oman’s monarch has reshuffled the cabinet with major changes to ministerial positions.
The Omani leader issued Royal Orders to change Ministerial formation in which Maqbool Bin Ali Bin Sultan has been shifted from Ministry of Commerce and named as the Industry to Transport Minister.
During the recent peaceful marches in Oman, young protesters have been asking for removal of Maqbool Bin Ali as the Commerce Minister and they had even sent a message to the Sultan putting forward their demands.
The new Minister of Commerce and Industry is Mohammad Bin Nasser Bin Mansour Al Khusaibi, who was until now Secretary-General at the Ministry of National Economy.
The Sultan has also appointed Shaikh Mohammed Bin Abdulla Al Harthi as the new Minister of Environment and Climatic Affairs, the portfolio held until now by Sayyid Hamoud Bin Faisal al Busaidi, who has now been named as the new Minister of Civil Services.
The Royal Decree also appointed Mohsin Bin Mohammad Bin Ali Al Shaikh as the Tourism Minister, the post that was vacant after the death of Dr Rajha Bint Abdulameer Bin Ali.
Dr. Madeeha Bint Ahmad Bin Nassir Al Shibaniyah has been named the new Minister of Education.
The Sultan has also appointed Dr. Khamis Bin Mubarak Al Alawi and Yahya Bin Saud Bin Mansoor Al Sulaimi as the State Advisors.
Shaikh Al Fadal Bin Mohammad Bin Ahmad Al Harthi is the new Secretary-General at the Ministry of National Economy with a Minister Grade.
Dr. Muna Bint Salim Bin Khalfan Al Jardaniyah has been named the new Undersecretary for Technical Education and Vocational Training, at the Ministry of Manpower. Mohammad Bin Khamis.
