Muscat: The Indian mission in Oman has urged Indians to be on guard in light of recent protests in the country.
In a message to Indian expatriates in Oman, Ambassador Anil Wadhwa said that the embassy in Muscat was closely monitoring the situation in the Sultanate, including Sohar.
"The Embassy is hopeful that the situation will be brought under control in the near future," he said in his message.
"The embassy in Muscat advises all Indian citizens, residents in the Sultanate of Oman to avoid taking part in demonstrations or protests, as they may turn violent with little or no advanced warning.
"Indian nationals are asked to exercise vigilance, remain calm and to ensure adequate security measures are in place for their personal safety," according to his statement.
He advised Indian citizens to plan to avoid areas in which demonstrations or large gathering might take place.
