Manama: Kuwait's parliament on Wednesday postponed the grilling of the prime minister to March 28 upon his request.
Under Kuwait's laws, a minister facing quizzing from the parliament can ask for a two-week postponement.
Shaikh Jaber Mubarak Al Hamad Al Subah said that he needed the time to get prepared for the grilling, Speaker Ahmad Al Saadoon said.
MP Salah Ashoor on March 6 filed a motion to grill the prime minister over five themes.
According to motion, the lawmaker wanted answers on government slack, inadequacy of measures taken, and abuse of power in the suspicious deposits into bank accounts.
The other issues, according to Kuwait News Agency (Kuna) were slack, unjustifiable, and unsanctioned delay in applying the law, squandering public funds and financial violations involving offshore remittances and mishandling of the Bidoon (stateless Arabs) issue in a manner that jeopardizes the state's higher interest and internal security. The fifth issue was failure by the government to present its working programme in a blatant violation of the constitution.
