Dubai: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan seems to be obsessed with foreign authors' quotes as he once again shared Russian-American author and philosopher Ayn Rand’s views on corruption.
On his twitter handle on Sunday, Imran shared a text from Rand’s writings with his comments “so apt for the Pakistan inherited by the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) govt”.
Imran shared a screenshot with the headline: “Ayn Rand wrote this almost 60 years ago. It’s frightening how accurate this statement is today.” His obvious hint was towards what he says rampant corruption in Pakistan. Rand’s quotes were also underlined with colour markers to highlight the parts of the quotes most relevant to Pakistan.
These are Rand’s quotes shared by Prime Minister Imran Khan: “When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion—when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing—when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in good, but in favors—when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you—when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice—you may know that your society is doomed.”
Imran’s tweet quoting philosopher Ayn Rand came as a surprise to many in Pakistan where literacy rate is just around 58 per cent.
Apparantly, Imran is using every possible means to back up his campaign against corruption and the corrupt. Since he became the Prime Minister of the country, Pakisan has plunged into an acute economic crisis leading to massive price hike, more foreign debts, more taxes and massive inflation. Imran and his team have been blaming their predecessors for all the ‘mess’ and the worsening economic situation in Pakistan.
