Islamabad: Sara Mukadam, sister of Noor Mukadam, in a video message that has gone viral on social media has remembered her brutally murdered sister saying life is not and will not be same without her.

No one deserves to go through the ordeal that my family had to undergo, said Sara referring to Noor’s brutal murder on July 20, this year.

In the video message shared on social media, Sara appealed to the civil society, friends of Noor and all the law-abiding people to come and join a protest outside the Islamabad Press Club at 4:30pm on Wednesday (September 22), and express solidarity and support for Noor so that justice could be served.

“No one in Pakistan, no family should have to go through what we are going through,” said Sara.

She called Noor (meaning light in Arabic and Urdu) light of her family and said that light had been taken away from them.

For me, Noor wasn’t only her sister but also a best friend, said Sara in her impassioned video message.

The aggrieved sister said such brutal incidents could be prevented if people raised their voice for justice.

Noor Mukadam, 27, was murdered in Islamabad’s posh residential sector F-7 by her former boy friend and a US citizen of the Pakistani origin Zahir Jaffer in cold blood inside his house.

Ironically, the house keeping staff despite knowing what was happening in the house kept mum.

It was on a neighbour’s call that police reached the crime scene and took Jaffer into custody.

Sara also thanked people on her family’s behalf for showing their support throughout the hard times that the family went through and is still in trauma.

“Thank you for all the love, support and prayers from around the world and giving us the courage to go through this tragic time in our life,” said Sara.

Besides #justicfornoor is also among the top trends on social media and Sara Mukadam’s video is viewed on twitter for more than 34,000 times.

Noor Mukadam was the daughter of Shaukat Mukadam, who served as Pakistan’s ambassador to South Korea and Kazakhstan.

The Islamabad police arrested Zahir Jafar on the night of July 20 from his house where, according to Noor’s parents, he killed her with a sharp knife and severed her head.

Last month too, Sara Mukadam had written a heartfelt note in memory of her late sister calling her ‘Noorah’.

Sara took it to her Instagram handle and shared her picture with Noor, expressing the grief on how her life after Noor’s brutal murder changed.

She went on to say, “I miss you so much! I don’t know how to live a life without you. I miss you every breathing moment,” she said, sharing how the two had made many plans for Noor Mukadam’s birthday this year. “World is not the same without your Noor (light)”.

“We can never celebrate another birthday, another Eid, or lead normal lives,” stated Sara.

Sara had added “Noor you will get justice. In Shaa Allah. The world is behind you.”
