Dubai: The Inaugural Session of Pakistan-United Arab Emirates Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) was held in Islamabad on Monday.
Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Political Affairs, led the UAE delegation during the meeting while the Pakistan delegation was led by Dr Khalid H.Memon, Additional Secretary (Middle East), Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to a press release by the Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the consultations centered on the entire spectrum of bilateral relations including political, economic, commercial, security, consular and people-to-people ties. The two sides reviewed the progress achieved so far in implementing Pakitan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s directive to transform Pakistan-UAE relations into a “Long-Term Strategic Economic Partnership” and identified steps to translate this vision into concrete actions.
Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi, UAE’s Ambassador to Pakitan was also presented at the meeting. “Positive and constructive talks and discussions during the first round of Bilateral Political Consultation between United Arab Emirates and Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Islamabad ably led by H.E. Khalifa Shaheen AlMurar, Assistant Minister for Political Affairs,” he tweeted.
Both sides agreed that the bilateral political consultations provided a useful mechanism for regular, in-depth exchange of views on all issues of common interest. To further deepen existing friendly ties, it was decided to enhance the momentum of bilateral exchanges and high level visits, says the Pakistan Embassy statement.
Al Marar also called on Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood during this visit to Islamabad.
