Karachi: Pakistan commemorated the 74th death anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah on Sunday by paying tribute to the Father of the Nation.
Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, along with Acting Governor of the province, Agha Siraj Durrani, members of his cabinet, and top officials visited the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam in Karachi for paying homage to the founder of Pakistan.
A contingent of the Pakistan Navy also accompanied the CM and Acting Governor as they laid floral wreaths at the mausoleum.
The CM and the Acting Governor recorded their remarks in the visitor’s book kept at the mausoleum praising the tireless struggle of Jinnah for finding a separate homeland for Muslims in the subcontinent.
Later, Karachi’s Administrator, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, on behalf of the people of the city, visited the mausoleum and paid tribute.
Wahab said the Father of the Nation had envisioned that Karachi being his city should make progress as the cultural, economic, and industrial hub of Pakistan.
He said the new generation should be informed that countless sacrifices had been rendered for securing an independent state.
He reiterated the resolve of the government to develop Karachi and make it a neat and clean city as per the vision of Quaid-e-Azam.
He said that all the concerned civic agencies had remained active to ensure speedy drainage of water in Karachi during recent heavy monsoon rains.
The CM and Acting Governor also appealed to the nation to firmly follow the golden principles of Quaid-e-Azam - unity, faith and discipline - for a unified struggle to tackle the recent flood emergency in Pakistan.
