Patna: Panic has gripped villagers in Bihar after an occultist sought written permission from the government for human sacrifice to please the deity.
The man claims himself to be the follower of Kamakhya, an important Hindu tantric Goddess of desire who as per Hindu scriptures evolved in Himalayan hills.
The occultist Surendra Prasad Singh, a resident of central Bihar’s Begusarai district, submitted a written request for human sacrifice on January 29.
“I am a follower of the deity and has even set up a temple at my village but the goddess has now ordered me to sacrifice a human being,” the tantric said in his written petition to the local sub-divisional official (SDO) Sanjeev Kumar Chaudhary. He urged the official to allow him conduct human sacrifice to please the deity.
The tantric said at first he would sacrifice his son before others from the society. “This is the order of the Goddess and this order has to be fulfilled,” the tantric told the media on Friday adding he had been an ardent follower of the deity for the past 21 years.
Tantric’s bizarre move, however, has caused panic among local villagers as they are not allowing their children to move out of their homes alone. “There is complete panic in several villages in our districts. Parents are not allowing their children to go out of their homes apprehending they could be kidnapped and killed by the tantric. The local administration should instantly act into the matter,” a local villager Ajay Kumar Singh said.
Officials said they have launched extensive searches for the occultist whose action has robbed off peace of villagers. “The police are searching for him. He will be caught very soon,” the local SDO Chaudhary said.
The incidents of humans sacrifice are quite common in twin states of Bihar and Jharkhand. In October last year during Dussehra, a tantric couple allegedly sacrificed his four-year-old son by striking nails in his head in Bihar’s Banka district before fleeing the scene.
Another such incident was reported from Sitamarhi district where two brothers hacked their sister-in-law to death as part of human rituals during the same Dussehra festival as being advised by an occultist.
Even more horrible incident was reported from Jehanabad district where a woman sacrificed a 12-year-old boy of her neighbour to thank the deity after she had conceived. The Incident took place in April 2017. The woman was married five years back but had no child after which she consulted a local occultist. When the woman conceived after some time, she again consulted the tantric who advised her to sacrifice a human to “thank” the deity who blessed her.
