A woman was killed and another seriously injured in a collision between two jet-skis on the Dubai Creek. Dubai Police said the two women were riding together on Friday when another jet-ski collided with them.

The 25-year-old national and her 20-year-old friend received serious injuries and were airlifted to Rashid Hospital. A police spokesman said the national woman died an hour later and her companion, who was in a coma, was admitted to the intensive care unit.

Her father said her condition has since improved and she underwent surgery on Saturday on her upper left leg, which was badly broken. "My daughter and the victim were close friends and worked together in a bank," he said.

A Dubai Police spokesman said the man operating the other jet-sli was blamed for the accident and was arrested. He said the man, who is in his early 20s, had suddenly crossed into the women's path, making a collision inevitable.
