Abu Dhabi: The traffic in Mina area in the capital is expected to ease following the opening of a U-turn access and some other new measures. The Abu Dhabi Municipality announced the opening of the U-turn access on Mina Road in the area facing Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, where construction is progressing on the upgrading of Al Salam Street.

The right lane that links Mina Road with Corniche Road, near Capital Hotel, is also open to traffic, said a statement issued by the municipality. These measures are in line with the municipality's efforts to facilitate the completion of project and make it easier for those affected by the construction work.

The U-turn will help the movement of traffic along the Tourist Club area and allow vehicles to make a turn along Mina Road instead of driving up to the traffic signal near Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank. On the other hand, the right lane in the area that links Mina with Corniche Road will allow vehicles coming from Mina to reach Corniche from the route near Capital hotel.

The municipality has recently completed the installation and operation procedures on a number of modern elevators at some pedestrian bridges in the main traffic detour areas on Al Salam Street, specifically in the Tourist Club zone. Three elevators were installed, one near Le Meridian Hotel, one on Road No. 10 between Hamdan Street and Mina Road and the other one near Abu Dhabi Mall.

The Al Salam Street project is a result of the coordination between the Abu Dhabi Municipality, Urban Planning Council, Department of Transport and General Command of Abu Dhabi Police. The project falls under the initiative of the municipality to contribute to the development of the city, and establish its position as a modern metropolis which is on par with the best in the world.
