A baby’s arrival is no less than a dream for every parent. Amidst mixed emotions, sleepless nights and the joy of holding a newborn, there lies anxiety on your mind on making space for the little one. And if your living in small spaces isn’t challenging enough, a baby’s arrival will add to your creativity quotient on optimising best case scenarios and squeezing out every inch of your living spaces. The idea should never be of changing your lifestyle or homes to make space for more.

-Don’t compromise on your dreams, just fit them in your apartment: Who doesn’t want the most beautiful looking nursery for their little one. Whether it is a theme or soft colour palette, make choices that will blend into your existing décor and still look like a dedicated space.

-Making space in limited spaces: Cap your greed at needs and you will never feel a space crunch. A lot of times parents go overboard with shopping lists and buy the world for someone as tiny as 20 inches! Remember, babies outgrow toys and clothes quickly. Also, pack away things that your little one will not need immediately to make space for things they need.

-Choose furniture wisely: There are options galore if you look out properly. Imagine a bassinet that expands as your baby grows, a stroller that can double up for bottle-feeding needs, a rocker with smaller footprint and swings that can be packed up when not in use.

-Picture rails for book shelves: Who says you have to have a designated cupboard or shelf to store all the kiddie-books. Sleek picture rails not just make for an attractive display of colourful books but may also become a focal point for your baby if designed against their crib’s wall.

-Take collapsible for a norm: Making the best of every inch space available isn’t very difficult. A changing table that flips down from the wall is a great space saver. The top of a cabinet can also be redesigned to be used as a changing table. Collapsible baskets, foldable strollers and storage spaces that fold out; will make the best use of available spaces.

-Wall mounted attraction: Your baby isn’t going to be sleeping in the crib at all times and you also have to think of keeping them busy. Make use of your walls for their activity centre where you can hang pictures, white boards, chalk boards and all that you can think of is age appropriate.
