Sharjah: A number of development projects in Sharjah were inspected and approved by His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

The tour yesterday (Monday) was conducted by Dr Shaikh Sultan to a number of vital projects being developed in the emirate.

At the beginning of his tour, Dr Shaikh Sultan inspected Al Jubail market to inquire about its capabilities and how it will benefit fishermen.

Dr Shaikh Sultan approved the design for expanding Al Khalidiya Bridge and submitting the project to the company that will construct it.

He also inspected docks being built near Flag Island.

Dr Shaikh Sultan issued directives to construct a bridge from Al Jubail market to Al Liyyah. The bridge will act as an extension for Al Maliha Road to Shaikh Khalifa and King Abdul Aziz roads.

Dr Shaikh Sultan then visited Sharjah’s Department of Civil Aviation to inquire about the latest development on projects being implemented in Sharjah International Airport and roads surrounding it. After viewing the designs, Dr Shaikh Sultan ordered expanding the capacity of the airport bridge, which is being constructed. He approved increasing airport parking spaces and ordered the construction of a new exit at the arrivals building, in order to ensure smooth traffic flow for cars travelling from the airport towards the city of Sharjah.

The Ruler was then briefed by officials from Sharjah International Airport Authority on planned expansions for the airport.

Dr Shaikh Sultan then met developers from companies responsible for developing the exhibitions and conferences venue at Al Tai. Dr Shaikh Sultan inspected the plans for the project, which will span an area of four million square feet.

The first phase of the project will see the construction of exhibition and conference halls, parking lots, as well as a hotel that will serve visitors and exhibitors.

The first phase of the project will be carried out over an area of 380,000 square feet, while the second phase will span an area of 650,000 square feet. The developer will also be responsible for the construction of roads surrounding the project.

Dr Shaikh Sultan then approved the project for developing the Wadi Al Helo-Kalba Road. The road will be expanded and made safer by making it less steep.

The Sharjah Ruler also approved linking water from the Al Saja’a water treatment plant to a number of different protected areas and farms in Al Dhaid.

On the final leg of his tour, Dr Shaikh Sultan inquired about the progress on the construction of the Sharjah Mosque project located in Al Tai. The mosque is considered one of the biggest in the emirate.

Dr Shaikh Sultan was accompanied by a number of officials.
