Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is seeking to infuse a positive spirit among employees at all levels by nurturing a work environment characterised by work, entertainment and innovation. To realise these ideas, RTA’s Human Resources and Development Department has established an Internal Communication Section, which was tasked with turning these objectives into reality by organising a diverse series of events aimed at breaking the work routine.

Detailing the move, Kawther Kazim, Executive Director of Human Resources and Development, said: “RTA is making strenuous efforts to attain employees’ satisfaction and make them happier in line with the Dubai Government vision prompting public entities to foster a competitive positive atmosphere capable of making employees happier and empowering them to step up productivity. The role of the Internal Communication Section is to deliver the strategy and objectives of RTA, identify clear employees’ expectations, and encourage them to play an active role via different communication channels.”

According to Kazim, the Internal Communication Section of RTA will chart out a well-defined annual plan encompassing fresh ideas for monthly events to foster a positive atmosphere among employees, motivate them to raise their level of work and enhance their job satisfaction rating. Such events cover all employees whether at RTA’s head office or the public transport wing, or site employees such as examiners and inspectors, along with their families and children.

Examples of such events include tours to different parts of the UAE to boost inter-employee relations and to break the monotony of the daily work routine.

“The recently held ‘I Love RTA’ event, which kicked off events for 2016, comprised an array of activities with the aim of migrating employees from a regular work atmosphere to a cordial employee-manager relationship.

Khulood Al Tunaiji, advisor and coach of Positive Energy, delivered a lecture titled ‘Be Positive’ in which she dwelt on several aspects related to enriching the concept of positive energy among employees and enabling them to rise up to challenges with “an optimistic and success-oriented style”.

Other initiatives were also part of the event including Read More, with RTA employees offered books that are supplied in collaboration with the Mohammad Bin Rashid Foundation. A mobile bookshop was presented under the theme ‘I love RTA’. A drawing workshop was also held to engage employees with the event theme. Several recreational and entertainment events also helped lighten the mood of attendees.
