Federal utility authority still offers subsidies up to 50%

Dubai: The Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa) reaffirmed that it still subsidises up to 50 per cent of the connection charges and bills for Emiratis.

“The rapid increase in the prices of power connection materials and the rising cost of installation contracts led the authority to incur huge losses. In light of this, a study was conducted while taking into consideration that the increase in charges does not burden citizens,” said Mohammad Saleh, director-general of Fewa. He pointed out that the authority is ready to cooperate with Emiratis by offering them the option to finance the fees.
