Abu Dhabi:

A new e-service involving the activation of the online Infrastructure Designs Approval System (IDAS) has been launched, the Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) said.

Since January this year, the Municipal Assets and Infrastructure Sector has processed 1,410 transactions. Under the conventional paper processes, the time taken to submit these transactions by consultants is 408,900 minutes or 6,815 hours; equivalent to 852 working days. However, processing the same transactions online requires 16,920 minutes or 282 hours; equivalent to 35 working days. The financial cost of applying for the same number of transactions using papers is about Dh1,651,110 whereas the cost of the same online will be Dh43,428 only. The carbon footprint of the traditional method is 109,839kg of carbon dioxide, whereas the electronic format will result in 3977kg of carbon dioxide, requiring the growing of just 3,000 trees to counter the impact of carbon emission.

“This new e-service epitomises the plan set by the municipal system and Abu Dhabi City Municipality for the automation of procedures and municipal services with the aim of delivering modern services matching to customer expectations,” the ADM said in a statement.

Endorsing the infrastructure designs approval system service has become readily available to the concerned parties, and the municipality has completely discontinued the receipt of any paper-based transactions or submittals in this regard.

“The online application for this service has multiple benefits to all stakeholders and business owners including consultants and developers as it will be easy for them to track the progress of transaction processing online, and receive comments and guidelines from specialists at the municipality through the system. It will also enable the project manager follow-up the approvals online and figure out the status of approvals and NOCs, thus offering realistic and accurate information about the progress of transactions along with the comments and guidelines made by the officials of the municipality,” the statement added.
