Abu Dhabi: High school graduates no longer require to have their certificates attested before enrolling in higher education institutions in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) announced today (Tuesday).

Instead, in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Adec has launched the ‘Elimination of Attestation’ which applies to Grade 12 pupils in public schools and private Ministry of Education curriculum schools.

UAE University, the Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University, Khalifa University, Emirates College for Educational Development and the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education Training are some of the universities included in the Elimination of Attestation process.

Previously, a visit to the Adec’s Customer Service Centre was needed to attest high school certificates.

“Everything is now fully automated. Universities have direct access to student grades, graduation degrees, and all necessary information and/or data required about a particular student. Our aim is not to burden students and to encourage them to focus on what matters most, such as the type of university they would like enter,” Saoud Al Neyadi, Adec’s customer service division manager, said.

This means that time saving is only one of the perks of the new system for customers.

Last year, the Adec made attested transcripts available at nine schools and had announced plans to expand the process across 225 institutions. To further reduce the volume of work for the Council, Adec made online attestation available for pupils from all grades from April. This service can be accessed on the website www.adec.ac.ae
