Dubai: The High School Basketball Championship resumed on Saturday with a double-header from the Dubai group. The game of the day witnessed the debut of the International School of Chouiefat, Abu Dhabi (ISCAD) and 2012 championship semi-finalists Lycee Francais International Georges Pompidou (LGP), who won 67-36.

Star player for LGP, Adham Gaama started the game slowly, going scoreless for the first seven minutes, with ISCAD doing well to keep up, as they only trailed LGP 12-6 after one quarter of play. Despite scoring only two points in the first quarter, Gaama exploded for 18 in the second quarter, as LGP stretched their half-time lead to 35-16.

ISCAD simply had no answer for Gaama, who continued to snatch defensive rebounds and coast to the hoop for quick transition points. Gaama finished the game with a record 40 points, 17 rebounds, and 12 steals. The LGP Forward becomes only the second player in tournament history to register a triple double, and now holds the record for the most points, and steals in a game.

Earlier that day, host school for the Dubai group, Jumeirah Baccalaureate School (JBS) faced 2011 championship runners-up, the International School of Chouiefat, Dubai (ISCD).

JBS’s performance was anchored by the solid play of Kareem Al Kady who was a huge presence inside, as he cleaned up for 15 points and 19 rebounds. Player of the game was point guard Lloyd Van Der Bijl, who dictated the game with his all-round play, finishing with 16 points, five assists, three rebounds and two blocks. JBS went on to defeat an outclassed ISCD 60-26.
