Not my name

I would like to thank Gulf News for publishing my letter (“From fable to fact”, Gulf News, April 12). However, I am not pleased about one fact — both my first and last names were spelt wrong, due to which, none of my friends actually believe that my letter got published. My genuine request is to please be a little careful next time, so such errors can be avoided.

Thank you for your letter. However, this was not an error. Gulf News follows the house style when it comes to names with its origins in Arabic. We follow the phonetic scheme as it is meant to sound and be written in Arabic, as opposed to adapted spellings. As a standard policy, we change all names to follow the house style.
