DUBAI Around 14,000 people are working round the clock at motiongate Dubai, the UAE’s first Hollywood-themed park set to open this October.
Located in the Dh10 billion Dubai Parks and Resorts opposite Palm Jebel Ali, the park sprawls over 1.9 million sqft, (that’s nearly the size of 24 football pitches) and has five zones featuring titles from three of the world’s biggest film studios -- Lionsgate, DreamWorks and Sony Pictures.
The park’s biggest attractions, of course, will be the 27 immersive experiences including five exhilirating roller-coaster rides (The Green Hornet, Capitol Bullet Train, Madagascar Mad Pursuit, Dragon Gliders and the Smurfs Village Express), a water ride containing over 793,000 gallons of water, interactive play labs and multimedia theatre – all inspired by 13 Hollywood blockbuster films.
Over 3 million people are expected to visit the park in the first year itself. Here we bring you the work in progress alongside the artist’s renderings of the different features of the park.
1. Dramatic entry
A fantastic cast of popular cartoon characters from the big screen will open the gates of the park each morning.
2. Baby Brent’s Luncheonette
Located at Sony Picture Studio, this out of the ordinary dining area will be your first stop to grab a quick bite. Italian dishes, sliced pizza, pasta, salads, ice cream, will be among a slew of mouthwatering delicacies.
3. Capitol Bullet Train
360 degrees of thrill await you on the Hunger Games-themed ride Capitol Bullet Train. The roller coaster ride will include an immersive adventure which will take guests from District 12 to the Capitol onboard a hovercraft to see the world of Panem.
4. Smurfs Village
The Smurfs Village will have five attractions including an interactive kids play area filled with flying smurfberries waiting to be scooped or vacuumed.
5. Sony Pictures Studio Store
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be in a movie, this is where you can live the experience! The Sony Pictures Studio Store will offer movie related products, film reel apparel, accessories and many other souvenirs.
6. The Green Hornet
Inspired by the 2011 movie, this gravity-defying High-Speed Chase roller coaster will take thrill-seekers through a junkyard full of hazards and dizzying leaps.
7. Ghostbusters
Battle for New York. Something has been going bump here and you’ll have to join a Ghostbuster team to find out what. Be forewarned, you may have to face a rootop battle.
8. Shrek’s Merry fairy tale journey
This is where you can watch Shrek and Fiona tell their triplets how they met. The story will unfold in a puppet show that will leave you stunned.
9. Flint’s Imagination Lab
Inspired by the movie, Cloudy With A Chance of Meat Balls, this lab will help your little ones conduct science experiments and play on science-themed slides.
10. Kungfu Panda
Unstoppable Awesomeness. 4D stimulator where young visitors will embark on a crazy adventure to free the Famous Five, held captive by a villanious warlord
