The Middle East has witnessed an increase in the demand for non-surgical cosmetic treatments, says Dr Maurice Dray, gerontologist and dermatologist.

Based in Paris, Dr Dray has had the opportunity of working with many A-list celebrities and high-profile figures — a list he insists will remain confidential.

During a recent visit to Dubai, he unveiled what he describes as a “new breakthrough in medical aesthetics'' and demonstrated it in front of a very curious audience.

“The latest innovation is the ten-minute face lift without surgery, which aims to nurture the skin and provide it with necessary elements that help it glow and regain firmness,'' Dr Dray said.

First, he cleansed the volunteer's face, then applied ice and numbing cream — the process included several injections to correct signs of ageing, using tricalcium phosphate.

He then “sculpted'' the face while lifting the cheekbones and working mainly on the jawline.

“It is not like plastic surgery, where they insert silicone. This treatment is not a filler, it is about sculpting and lifting the face,'' Dr Dray said.

Immediate effect

He said the effects are noticeable immediately and can last up to two years, after which the patient will need to come back for retouching.

“The treatment has been available in Dubai since June, and there are no side-effects involved. It will be available for all skin types and colours and the skin will not sag in future,'' he said.

If the skin is very thin, this treatment can cause temporary bruising. Dr Dray, though, was confident the marks would disappear within days.

Dr Dray has years of experience in the field of anti-ageing treatment, which highlights the importance people attach to glowing skin that gives one the feeling of beauty regardless of age.

Dr Dray is introducing further innovations in rejuvenation techniques and use of hyalutonic acid and the PhotoPeel technique.

His passion for aesthetic medicine led Dr Dray to establish a laboratory in Toulouse, France, where experiments of innovative new treatments are carried out using natural substances and vitamins.

Dr Dray also owns Aesthetic Medical Centres in Paris and London. A centre will soon be launched in Dubai in collaboration with Zeina Al Bawab, beautician expert, Champs Elysees Medical Centre, Dubai, who gladly agreed to be the subject of the day's demonstration.
