Residents of both Bur Dubai and Deira are facing problems in finding space to pray in all neighbourhood mosques, especially on Fridays.

I am a resident of the populous Bur Dubai area. There are rows of buildings here, with people of varying nationalities residing in them. These hundreds of residents require a space to pray on Friday afternoons.

Although we have many mosques in our locality, they are still not enough for the high number of residents. It is extremely hard to find a place on a Friday. We also faces a lot of issues during Ramadan, especially in the evenings for iftar.

As there is a heavy crowd in the mosques, people are forced to pray in the staircase, pathways, on slipper mats and under the scorching sun. We all understand that praying outdoors in the heat isn’t easy.

This also causes trouble for the people coming out of the mosque after finishing their prayer. Some people are still praying in the way and it gets hard for people to exit the mosque without pushing each other.

It would be great if the relevant department could look into this issue and take action to provide a solution for this space problem. They could either expand the mosque’s area or provide a temporary space for Friday prayers, such as setting up tents next to mosques where people can pray.
