Ready, steady, go

After her controversial break-up with actor John Prats, superstar singer Rachelle Ann Go is moving on to a brave new world, literally.

Excerpts from the interview.

How have you been since your break-up with John Prats?

I've been a lot stronger somehow. I don't exactly know how I got through it, but managed to move on thanks to family and friends.

You were the last to know; how did you feel about it?

Shocked at first, because it came from other people, instead of John. I would hope he was going to tell me if there was a problem. But I found out about it from others, and when I found out he was already allegedly involved with another girl, it was a heartbreaker. But I had to stop the pain and move on from that experience.

How did you?

I don't know, really. I just focused on my work, welcomed new things to come into my life.

Like a new boyfriend? You were linked to Cesar Montano.

That was a big joke. He is a married man, and I'm just not the type. I just don't want any new man in my life right now. There are plenty of other things worth my time and emotions.

So what's new with Rachelle?

A new album…and I love the single, Unbreakable. It speaks a lot about who I am and what I am going through. And I'm also into theatre now. I'm playing Ariel in the musical The Little Mermaid.

That sounds exciting.

Live performances daily, that's a big challenge. I do live performances in my concerts and weekly TV show, Party Pilipinas, but doing Mermaid is something new. I love the challenge, and the people I work with. It's a new experience, and adds a new dimension to my voice and my career. The excitement has replaced the sadness for the most part.

Like Ariel, will you do anything for love?

I would, but only for the right guy. And I am also a big dreamer like her. I still have a lot that I'd like to do with my career, so many new songs to compose and sing. After that stormy chapter in my life, I realised there's a big world out there waiting to be explored. I find that liberating.

‘Single and happy'

Former pop idol Geneva Cruz has strongly denied reconciliation with former lover KC Montero. The two spent a month as celebrity castaways in the latest edition of Survivor Philippines, but the sultry singer, who quit the show before the challenges began, says their time spent together did more harm than good to their testy relationship. She says, "No reconciliation happened and there will never be. I am single and happy. KC and I remain good friends, though; he and my son Heaven are very close." Cruz revealed she has filed for a divorce.

Domingo coming back

Cogie Domingo was once considered the best young actor in the business, but drug addiction dampened his promising career. After several comeback attempts, Domingo is again trying to regain lost ground when he returns to TV5's PS I Love You, which will be seen in the Middle East on OSN Channel. Domingo admitted he was not serious in his comeback bid before. "This time I am more committed. I realised acting is really in my blood, and if I can be good at something, this is it. I will make the most of it," he said.

Missing Joshua

Tween star Barbie Forteza has been working on film and TV projects without her regular co-star Joshua Dionisio. Although the pair is still seen together on the hit GMA TV series, Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin (I Will Only Love You), Forteza is increasingly being cast in shows by her managers either alone or with other leading men, prompting the young actress to say she is missing Dionisio while promoting her latest movie, The Road. "It's management decision to put us on different career paths now, but I hope I still get the chance to work with him in the future."

Love, actually

TV host Luis Manzano has finally confirmed he and actress Jennylyn Mercado are a couple. Curiously, he made the announcement just a few days after ex-girlfriend and actress Angel Locsin revealed she is now exclusively dating Philippine football star Phil Younghusband. Manzano and Mercado have been dating for some time now. According to reports, Manzano's mother, actress-politician Vilma Santos, was against Mercado. However, Santos in several interviews, recently, said she has nothing to do with her son's love affairs and would welcome anybody he chooses.
