Dubai: A delegation from the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) will organise three workshops in China on October 22-26 to promote tourist attractions and various projects in Dubai.

30 representatives from tourist establishments and companies, including a delegation from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, will be in Shinghahi, Guangzhou and Beijing to cater to Chinese tourists.

“Dubai is one of the most important tourist destinations for over 40 million Chinese tourists who tour the world on an annual basis,” Khalid Bin Sulayem, Director-General of DTCM, said.

Since the department opened three tourism offices in Shinghahi, Guangzhou and Beijing in 2008, the influx of Chinese tourists in Dubai has increased significantly.

Meanwhile, hotel establishments in Dubai have noted a gradual increase in Chinese tourists. There were 92,300 Chinese visitors in 2007, 96,300 in 2008, 107,400 in 2009, 152,000 in 2010 and 193,700 in 2011. The 2011 figure was a 27 per cent increase over the previous year.
