Now in its ninth year, F.A.M.E., the beloved talent show celebrating people of determination, is set to make a grand return with an innovative new format. Taking place on Saturday, November 30, at 7:30 PM, this year’s event will debut The Play at the Zabeel Theatre, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, offering audiences a unique, connected narrative journey rather than standalone acts.
The Play—where dreams take center stage—is written by F.A.M.E.’s Event Director, Rebecca Shamji, and follows the story of five main characters. Celebrating themes of friendship, family, inclusivity, and accomplishment, this production incorporates diverse talents, including salsa dancing, piano playing, drumming, and elements from the Special Olympics. Audiences can also enjoy a fantastical fashion show and a Bollywood dance extravaganza. Featuring an expanded cast of around 50 participants aged 8 to 37, this production promises a new level of energy and inspiration.
F.A.M.E. was launched in 2016 by Rosy Ahmed, inspired by her daughter Hana, who has Down Syndrome. Rosy has since expanded F.A.M.E. with initiatives such as The Talent Hub, a weekly youth club where people with special educational needs learn skills in art, music, dance, and singing. Many of the performers in this year’s show are participants in The Talent Hub, with rehearsals held twice weekly at F.A.M.E.’s studio.
“Everyone is excited about doing something different this year,” commented Rebecca Shamji, Event Director. “Our performers work incredibly hard to develop their talents, and by combining the acts in a play, the performances flow beautifully into one another, showcasing an impressive breadth of skills.”
Rosy Ahmed, Founder of F.A.M.E., added: “It’s been amazing to see F.A.M.E. grow and reach wider audiences each year. This summer marked our first show in London, and now we are back in Dubai with a new format and venue, offering a more immersive theatre experience. The performing arts have a unique power to connect people and foster empathy, and this year’s production will celebrate that connection, inspiring people of all abilities.”
As F.A.M.E. (Fashion, Art, Music, and Entertainment) prepares for its 2024 show, it proudly welcomes Emirates NBD as the title sponsor. Additional support comes from Thrift for Good, providing costumes, and Dream It Possible Ballet and Performing Arts, which offers planning and performance support.
