Saudi-Iraq ties in focus as Prince Mohammed, Al Kadhimi hold talks

Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Wednesday held talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al Kadhimi over bilateral ties and ways to strengthen cooperation in political and security spheres.

They discussed historic fraternal Saudi-Iraqi relations and ways to expand mutual cooperation in various areas, particularly in political, security, commercial, investment and tourism, with an aim to serve the interests of both nations and peoples.

Al Kadhimi’s visit is a continuation of the efforts made and the positive results achieved after a series of mutual visits between high-profile officials from the two countries.

Mohammed bin Salman and Al Kadhimi exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues that would contribute to supporting and enhancing the region’s security and stability.

They highlighted the need to keep the region away from political tensions and their causes to establish security and stability.

The Iraqi premier reaffirmed Iraq’s support to Saudi Arabia’s initiative to end war in Yemen.

Earlier in the day, Al Kadhimi arrived at the King Khalid International Airport where he was accorded an official reception ceremony and was given a 21-gun salute.
