Driver arrested as drugs found in search of vehicle at checkpoint in Al Dair governorate

Abu Dhabi: Saudi security regiment patrols in the Jazan, a port city in the southwest corner of Saudi Arabia, have seized 229 kilograms of hashish, hidden inside bags of barley, loaded on a vehicle, at one of the checkpoints at the Al Wadiiyin site in the Salaf Centre of the second security regiment in Al Dair governorate, police said.
Colonel Ahmed Al Towayan, director of relations and information at the Ministry of Interior Agency for Security Regiments Affairs, said the driver of the vehicle, a Saudi citizen, was arrested and the legal procedures were completed and he was referred to the Public Prosecution pending further investigation and trial.
